Power On & Set-up
Hold the START button until the logo appears. If the device does not power up, charge the device with the provided Micro USB charging cable.
When Biosense is turned on for the first time or if it has been unused for some time, the sensor requires extra time to prepare for a measurement. During SETUP your device will heat and check the sensor, and periodically run the pump in order to make sure your first measurement is accurate. When turning your Biosense® on for the first time, the device will display a welcome message and then show the SETUP/PLUGIN screen and ask you to plug the device into the charger. When your Biosense® is plugged in, the device will run SETUP for 5 minutes. SETUP will also run when you turn your device on after it turned off or has turned itself off due to a low battery condition.
Pair With App
Download and install the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and follow the pairing instructions in the app.
Manually Set Time/Date
The first time you start-up your BIOSENSE device (or after a hard reset), it will ask you to input the current time and date. Once paired with your smartphone, your BIOSENSE device will automatically use your current time and date. If the device is not paired with your smartphone, you can manually set your time and date by pressing the MENU button and selecting SET TIME.
Preparing
Your BIOSENSE device takes about a minute to prepare, as it completely clears any residuals from the previous measurements to ensure accuracy. The progress bar shows you when it is ready. When it is ready to take a measurement, your BIOSENSE device will ask you to press the START button.
Testing
After a few seconds your BIOSENSE device will ask you to blow. Provide one steady blow, just like blowing up a balloon, until you notice two short vibrations. This signals that the device has taken a deep lung sample. If you are experiencing issues, refer to the

For best results, wait 60 minutes after:
• Eating
• Smoking/vaping
• Drinking sodas or flavored waters
• Consuming items with flavorings such as:
- Toothpaste
- Mouthwash
- Cough drops
- Breath mints
- Chewing gum
- Lip balm
- Artificial sweeteners
Do not test after consuming alcohol.
Results
It takes about 20 seconds to analyze your sample. Your breath acetone reading is shown on the screen in ACEs. The color indicator shows where your reading falls on the spectrum of nutritional ketosis
0-4 No or Low Ketones
5-14 Moderate Ketosis
15-30 Advanced Ketosis
31-39 Deep Ketosis
40+/HI High Ketones
Accessing Past Measurements
When paired with your smartphone, your BIOSENSE device will automatically send your past ketone measurements to the mobile app. To access your past measurements directly on the device, push the MENU button, and select HISTORY.
Auto Clean
In addition to the biomarkers that Biosense measures, breath contains a wide variety of other compounds that over time can build up on your sensor and result in long preparation times before a measurement. We have added a new feature called AUTOCLEAN to prevent “breath buildup” on your sensor and keep preparation times shorter. This feature will activate automatically when you plug your Biosense device in to charge and will display an AUTOCLEAN message with a 5 second countdown. If you would like to prevent AUTOCLEAN from running you can press the checkmark button to cancel, otherwise your device will heat the sensor and run the pump periodically for 5 minutes in order to remove any remaining compounds on your sensor. You may also cancel the AUTOCLEAN while running by pressing the checkmark button. At the end of AUTOCLEAN or if canceled your device will go to sleep and continue charging as usual.
